CBWNet Researchers Contribute to New CWC Coalition Report

CBWNet coordinator Dr. Alexander Kelle and consultant Dr. Ralf Trapp have contributed two input papers to the new Chemical Weapons Convention Coalition report "The Future of the Chemical Weapons Convention: Recommendations from Civil Society for Addressing Challenges Over the Next Five Years".

The report has been compiled following a series of strategic workshops in 2024. It outlines pressing priorities for the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and its member states in a post-stockpile destruction era. Dr. Kelle’s paper addresses the threat posed by non-state actors and chemical terrorism, while Dr. Trapp explores evolving challenges in treaty compliance and accountability mechanisms.

Their contributions are among six expert papers that inform the report’s comprehensive recommendations, which emphasize strengthening verification regimes, adapting to technological advances, and reinforcing the global norm against chemical weapons use.
